We have had an exciting week learning all about fire safety.  The children learned a lot about firefighters this week.  We made firefighters in centers, learned all about how to be safe in a fire and when we should call 9-1-1.  During snack on Friday we made a firetruck that was delicious!

Our favorite part of the day was when we got a visit from our community firefighters.  They talked to us about what to do if there were a fire at our house.

Firefighter Thomas talked to us about his gear.  He showed us what he would look like if he came to our home or school to help us during a fire.  He put on his fire boots and pants first.

Then he put on his fire jacket.

We learned that firefighters have to put on a mask just like we do when we dress up for Halloween.
He has a tank on his back with clean air. The mask allows him to breathe the clean air from his tank in a fire.

Last Firefighter Thomas put on his helmet to protect his head. We learned that we do not need to be afraid of a firefighter when he is dressed in his firefighting gear.

The best part of all was when Sparky showed up!!

Last we got to walk around and through the firetruck.  We saw lots of air tanks, walkie talkies, headphones, axes, water hoses and lots, lots more!!

Thank You MFD #3 and Sparky!!!!
